Welcome to The Holmewood School
The Holmewood School in Finchley, North London, is a specialist school for boys and girls with autism and other language and communication needs, who are broadly similar to their mainstream peers.

The school provides places for students aged 7 to 19 years old. Its philosophy is founded on a desire to make a difference and to challenge the way all members of the community think about autism.
“Pupils say this is ‘more than just a school’. Staff really understand them. Parents and carers are delighted by the way staff have transformed their child’s confidence. They value the deeply caring attitude staff show towards pupils.”

The Holmewood School is a warm and friendly school. We ensure our young people get every opportunity to achieve their full potential in life and this commitment is an intrinsic part of our philosophy and at the heart of everything we do.

We recognise that every child is different and, in addition to academic achievement, our focus is firmly on social, emotional and personal development. This is supported by strengthening
independence and life skills, which are key to building confidence and self-esteem.

“Pupils study a broad curriculum which has been extremely well designed to both meet their needs and help them to fulfil their potential. Staff skilfully use resources and adapt lessons to make sure pupils gain a wide range of qualifications, including GCSEs and A levels. They seamlessly weave into lessons strong support to help pupils, all of whom have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), develop resilience and improve their social skills.”
