'Significant Strength'
Our teaching environment is based on understanding a child’s individual needs, nurturing their academic and social development and caring for their wellbeing. We understand the importance of discipline and boundaries and pupils thrive in our calm, friendly, ‘can-do’ atmosphere. As they achieve in both academic and creative areas, belief in their own abilities grows and fuels further success.
The length of time spent at Abingdon House is unique to the individual but a sense of enjoyment, belonging and success is experienced by everyone.
“Parents were unanimous in their praise for the difference Abingdon House School had made to their children and their children’s experience of learning. In all cases their children were happy in school and could be seen to be making progress..” CReSTeD, 2023
“Leaders prioritise pupils’ mental health through providing them with strategies for self-regulation and emotional control, sensory tools and individual plans. A significant strength is that leaders ensure that therapists work together in highly effective partnership with staff and that all staff working with pupils effectively use consistent therapeutic approaches to support pupils learning extremely successfully.” ISI, 2025
The school currently has two campuses;
– The Prep School at 24 Elvaston Place, South Kensington, and
– The Senior School at Broadley Terrace, Marylebone.
I hope you will soon visit us to see what makes us so special.

I am delighted to welcome you to our school in Purley.
At Abingdon House School, Purley we are hugely ambitious in regards to our students’ potential and what they can achieve; we are looking to change the perception of what neurodiverse young people are capable of.
Our curriculum is both academic and holistic. We offer a mainstream-style education with specialist teaching and an integrated therapy approach. Our experienced and passionate school staff work towards removing the barriers to learning for our students. Within our supportive and inclusive school community students are given the unique opportunities they need in order to develop and progress both academically and personally.
Our curriculum offer is inspiring, broad and balanced. In addition to the subjects taught typically in schools, our students have weekly timetabled lessons in Life Skills, Social Skills and British Sign Language. Students work towards GCSE and equivalent qualifications which reflect their underlying cognitive ability.
We recognise that many of the students coming to us will have had negative school experiences prior to joining us. Our students deserve to enjoy their learning in a school that equips them with the skills and tools they will need to succeed and have a fulfilling life.
We warmly welcome you to come and visit us.
