Tanya Moran

Principal & Education Director
Tanya Moran

Tanya Moran is a Principal and Education Director at Cavendish Education. In her role, she oversees the strategic leadership and operational management of multiple schools in the group, and leads on a group-wide strategic project to pioneer a sector-leading educational provision that inspires and empowers neurodiverse young people, leading to sustainable and transformative outcomes.

After obtaining qualifications as a secondary Mathematics and Science teacher in Canada, Tanya dedicated six years to teaching in New Zealand before embarking on her educational journey in the UK. Joining the Harrodian School in 2004, she started as a teacher and Head of Year, advancing to the role of Deputy Headteacher.
In 2013, she co-founded and served as the Headteacher of The Independent School (TIS), an independent co-educational secondary school specialising in supporting students with learning differences. The school integrated into Cavendish Education in 2014.
Before assuming her current position, Tanya held the role of Headteacher at Abingdon House School, a thriving specialist day school in Marylebone catering to children with autism, specific learning difficulties, social communication challenges, and associated needs. Under her leadership, the school experienced remarkable growth and success, evolving from a small Prep School to three campuses across London for students aged 5-19.

Tanya ardently advocates for an education philosophy that rejects a 'one size fits all' approach, championing a personalised model with high expectations and aspirations for every student. Her passion lies in fostering a holistic development environment where students can flourish and achieve meaningful outcomes.

She is also a founding member and Trustee of Thomson House School in Mortlake, where she also served on the Board of Governors as Vice Chair, Link Governor for SEND and Safeguarding, and Chair of the Education Committee.
