Welcome to The Holmewood School
The Holmewood School is a day school for neurodivergent children and young people aged from 7 to 19 , with a primary diagnosis of Autism.
Our young people are broadly similar to their mainstream peers in their academic ability but require support with communication and interaction, executive functioning, anxiety, functional skills, and other needs related to their diagnosis. Our philosophy is founded on a desire to make a difference and to challenge the way all members of the community think about autism.
“Pupils say this is ‘more than just a school’. Staff really understand them. Parents and carers are delighted by the way staff have transformed their child’s confidence. They value the deeply caring attitude staff show towards pupils.” Ofsted 2022
We recognise that every child is different and, in addition to academic achievement, our focus is firmly on social, emotional and personal development. This is supported by strengthening independence and life skills, which are key to building confidence and self-esteem.
“Pupils study a broad curriculum which has been extremely well designed to both meet their needs and help them to fulfil their potential. (Staff) seamlessly weave into lessons strong support to help pupils, all of whom have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), develop resilience and improve their social skills.” Ofsted 2022
We are immensely proud of our school and we are excited and committed to its continuing success.
